Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that a mass vaccination drive will be conducted in the state from August 9 to 31. In the Covid review meeting, CM also added that the vaccination of the final year degree students, post graduate students, LP and UP school teachers is the target of this vaccination drive.
Apart from the vaccines given to the state government, more vaccine doses should be procured for the private hospitals too. For this, the state government will buy 20 lakhs doses of vaccines for the private sector alone and distribute them at the same rate. The public and private organisations can conduct vaccination camps by associating with the nearby hospitals. The local bodies shall facilitate these initiatives.
The first dose vaccination of senior citizens will be completed by August 15. Those who are bedridden will be vaccinated by reaching their houses. CM also ensured that the shopping malls will be allowed to open from Monday to Saturday between 7 am to 9 pm. The permission to open the malls will come into force from Wednesday.
This year too, people will have to perform the rituals related to ‘Karkkidaka vavu’ from their houses itself.
CM also informed the supriors should make sure that the government employees are reaching the office as per the current orders. He also asked them to ensure the others are working regularly from their homes.
