Night curfew, Sunday lockdown likely to be lifted

The restriction was tightened in the notion that the Covid toll will rise post-Onam period but the toll was not much as expected. Everyone in the review meeting of the experts from different departments also opined to remove restrictions.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Covid-19 review meeting to be convened by Chief Minister Pinaryi Vijayan on Tuesday will consider lifting the night curfew and Sunday lockdown. The meeting will also examine the status of Nipah outbreak.

The restrictions were intensified in view of a surge in the daily cases of Covid after Onam. However, there was no rise in the toll. Everyone had opined to ease restrictions in the previous review meeting.

The test positivity rate has steadily dipped in the last four days to 17.91 percent. Also, the number of patients in hospitals is also showing a declining trend.
