COVID victim’s body found infested with maggots, relatives file complaint
Kalamassery: The body of an aged man who died of COVID-19 infection at Kalamassery medical college was found infested with maggots. The relatives of the deceased raised a complaint against the medical college authority over the incident.
The relatives alleged that the medical college authority handed over the maggot-infested body to them.
The 85-year-old man who succumbed to COVID-19 was admitted to the medical college on September 6. The hospital authority informed his relatives that he succumbed to the virus on September 14. The body was received for the funeral on September 15.
It was the staff at the crematorium who noticed maggots on the body. They informed this matter to the relatives.
Following this, the relatives of the deceased filed a complaint with Chief Minister and Health Minister.
