COVID vaccine should be distributed free of cost, suggest Left MPs
Kozhikode: Left MPs have stated that the government did not issue any clarification regarding the distribution and storage of COVID vaccine in the country.
MV Shreyams Kumar MP stated that the proposed cost of Rs 2,500 per dose is not affordable for the common people. He was speaking to the media along with Elamaram Kareem after attending the all-party meeting convened by the Prime Minister.
There is no anxiety regarding the production of the COVID vaccine. Meanwhile, the government did not clarify how the vaccine will be distributed.
The Prime Minister stated that the vaccine will be made available within a few weeks. However, the details regarding how it will be stored or distributed have not been made clear during the all-party meeting, the MPs stated.
The proposed cost is not affordable for people including Adivasis. Shreyams Kumar MP stated that a person will have to pay Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 for 2 doses of the vaccine and suggested that it should be distributed to the public free of cost.
