Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala health department has prepared the list of centres to carry out COVID-19 vaccination drive which will commence from January 16, informed health minister KK Shailaja.
12 centres are arranged at Ernakulam district and 11 centres each at Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. Meanwhile, 9 centres will be established in the remaining 11 districts.
The list named primary health centres to medical colleges as centres where vaccine shots would be provided. Ayush department and private hospitals are also added in the list.
Webcasting will be arranged in each centre. The minister informed that directions are given to speed up the arrangements in all centres.
100 people to get vaccine per day
The health department has prepared an action plan to distribute the vaccine as per fixed schedule. 100 people will be vaccinated per day at a centre. Waiting rooms, vaccination room and observation room will be arranged in each centre.
The vaccination centres will be established strictly adhering to the COVID-19 protocol.
3.59 lakh registrations
In the initial phase, health workers will get vaccine on priority basis. So far, 3,59,549 people were registered for vaccine.
Central team expresses satisfaction
The health minister also informed that the central team which was deputed to examine the bird flu and COVID-19 preventive measures in the state expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the govt.
A team, headed by the Director of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Dr S K Singh, has been deputed after around 40,000 new cases were logged in the state in the first week of January, and around 5,000 new cases added daily to the state's COVID-19 tally.
"We held a discussion with the central team today. They expressed satisfaction in the steps taken by the state government in tacking the COVID-19 pandemic. They have evaluated the situation in the field and at the official level and will submit a report accordingly," Health minister K K Shailaja said in a release.
The team had reached the state on January 7 and initially visited the bird flu-affected regions of the state.
"We have requested the central team to allot a laboratory in Kerala to test the samples for avian flu. We hope the centre will accept our request," the minister said.
