COVID tests in labs sans prescription; Infected persons showing no symptoms can stay at home
Thiruvananthapuram: The government has granted permission to conduct COVID-19 tests in private labs without prescription of a doctor. This was allowed as the disease can be diagnosed early without waiting for permission of the health department. The permission is bound by certain conditions.
The people can conduct the test at recognized labs at a rate fixed by the government. The cost of the test should be managed by the individuals. People have to carry their identity documents and affidavit while coming for test. It has been directed to inform the test result directly to the person.
Stay at home
If a person tests positive for COVID-19 and if he or she has no symptoms and is not suffering from any other diseases, they can remain in home-quarantine after contacting the DISHA (Direct Intervention System For Health Awareness).
Those who are aged above 65 years and below 12 years, pregnant women, people suffering from heart, kidney, lungs and liver diseases and those who has uncontrollable diabetes and blood pressure will be admitted in first-line treatment centres, if tested positive.
Patients in critical condition will be sent to hospitals. If the person who tests negative has any symptoms, they should contact the health institution and remain in quarantine for 14 days.
