COVID tests for Sabarimala pilgrims may be made free
Pathanamthitta: The COVID test conducted for Sabarimala pilgrims is likely to be made free at Nilakkal. The government is considering free tests after receiving antigen test kits through sponsorship.
1250 devotees will be allowed to visit the temple in the five-day-long pilgrimage season in the Malayalam month of Thulam. Travancore Devasom Board has collected the COVID test kits for all pilgrims through sponsorship. A businessman based in Chennai has sponsored the test kits.
Hence, the COVID test under the health department will be made free for all pilgrims.
Representatives of private hospitals will also join the health department officials to conduct the tests at Nilakkal. The private hospitals will charge the government-approved rate of Rs 625 for the test.
Road work at Planthode
