Covid protocol to be strictly followed in local body oath-taking ceremony

Thiruvananthapuram: The oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected members of local bodies in the state will take place on December 21. The oath-taking ceremony will begin at 10am at the respective local body offices.

Thiruvananthapuram district collector has instructed to follow the Covid protocol strictly during the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of the local self-government.

Only one person either a relative or a party member will be allowed to accompany the elected person to the council hall. The chairs are arranged ensuring social distance.

Masks and sanitisers are compulsory for those coming for the event. Collector had instructed the local body secretaries to disinfect all venues ahead of the event. All officials on duty are to follow the Covid protocol without fail.

No crowd or celebration will be allowed outside the oath-taking hall and this has to be ensured by the public representatives.

After the oath-taking ceremony, a meeting will be convened of the elected members under the first member who took the oath where the notification from the election commission regarding the chairperson posts will be read out.
