Thiruvananthapuram: Health minister Veena George convened an urgent meeting of officials in 6 districts including Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod where high Covid Test Positivity Rate (TPR) was reported.
The meeting was convened as directed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for taking efforts to bring down the TPR. District collectors and district medical officers attended the meeting and reviewed the current situation in each district.
Minister Veena George directed the officials to take strict action to control TPR. All these districts have already achieved the testing target. But, maximum tests should be conducted in the places which are prone to Covid transmission. Quarantine and contact tracing should be strengthened.
Those who have no proper facilities at home should be shifted to DCCs and CFLTCs. The people with comorbidities must be admitted to hospitals. Along with this, Covid awareness programmes should be strengthened, the health minister directed the officials.
The preventive measures should be intensified in view of the third wave of Covid-19. The meeting also reviewed the activities related to it. Maximum number of people should be vaccinated. Vaccination drive should be strengthened for this purpose, recommended the minister.
Health department principal secretary Dr Rajan N Khobragade, health department director Dr VR Raju, additional directors, district surveillance officers and lab surveillance team also attended the meeting.
