Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of Education, V Sivankutty informed the assembly that the schools in the state are ready to open once approval is received from the Central government. The reopening process will be carried out step by step and he made it clear that all procedures will be taken as per instructions by the Central government and the expert committee. He also informed that schools will make arrangements by next month for this purpose.

In the meantime, vaccination of students has to be completed. He said that a study by SCERT revealed that the online learning process using digital gadgets has been causing serious health issues in students. It was also noticed that nearly 36 percent of students suffer from headache and neck pain, and 28 percent from eye-related issues and mental trauma.

Parents must ensure proper exercise and care of the school-children during the digital learning process. Parents will also be given training in the use of digital gadgets starting next month. Counsellors will be appointed as per need to take care of the mental stress of students,” the Minister informed.
