COVID deaths in Kerala: Submit appeals, request for certificate from Oct 10
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala health minister Veena George has informed the public can submit the applications for appeals and certificates of COVID deaths from October 10.
Though the Kerala government is issuing COVID-19 death certificates, the new mechanism will imbibe the guidelines of ICMR and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare which were modified after the Supreme Court’s intervention regarding ex gratia.
The health minister has informed that the people can move appeal in a transparent manner if COVID deaths are not listed on the official website of the government. But the death should be identified as COVID death as per the ICMR's revised guidelines.
The application process has been arranged in an easy format. The requests can be given through both direct and online mode. For individuals who are unaware of online procedures, PHC and Akshaya Centres will provide the necessary help.
The applications will be screened and scrutinized before officially issuing COVID-19 death certificates. All the requests will be processed within 30 days.
People can submit the application through the COVID Death information portal setup under the Kerala government’s e-Health Kerala platform.
