New Delhi: The Health Ministry has directed five states including Kerala to stay alert as the concern over the possibility of rise in Covid cases is growing.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan instructed that necessary measures must be taken to stop the spread of Covid in states including Kerala, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra and Mizoram. The ministry called for a meeting of the states to review the present situation.

For the past one week, the daily Covid cases in the country is less than 1000. But, the aforementioned states have seen a small spike in the number of cases. Covid clusters must be located and the spread of the disease must be stopped. Restrictions must be strictly enforced in areas with more infected people. More vaccine doses must be administered and the samples of international travellers should be sent for genome sequencing, the centre informed. State health secretaries and senior officers also took part in the meeting.
