Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan slammed the health department for not adopting strict measures to tackle the third wave of Covid spread. He alleged that activities of the health department have come to a standstill in the state.
The government has not formulated any guidelines to resist the third wave except the health minister’s statement that the Covid spread will be severe within two weeks. The government hospitals are deprived of adequate medicines for those who are in critical condition, said the Congress leader.
The Covid brigade which was active earlier has been completely disbanded by the government. The present state of the health sector has compelled the patients to rely upon private hospitals. The state is going through an alarming situation, added Satheesan.
Satheesan pointed out that the schools are still functioning, even after many of them have already become clusters. The reports from the secretariat and other institutions also suggest an uncontrollable Covid spike in the state.
