COVID-19 +ve Wayanad truck driver’s route map released
Wayanad: The district administration has released the route map of the person who was tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. A 52-year-old truck driver, who was under observation at the Kurukkanmoola Primary Health Centre (PHC) had tested positive for COVID-19 in Wayanad.
The new case was confirmed when the district was being considered to be declared as Green zone as no new cases were reported for a month.
It is reported that the truck driver had no symptoms of COVID-19. It was on April 18 that he set off to Gundalpet from Wayanad and stayed there for two days. On April 20, he left Gundalpet around 9.30 pm and reached Chennai. He returned to Wayanad from Chennai after four days. He reached here via Bavali check post on April 26 after taking load from Koyambedu market in Chennai.
On April 27, he reached Meenangadi Kulamberi godown with the loaded truck. After unloading the goods, he reached the vegetable market at Meenangadi to settle the bill around 3.00 pm. He also visited a furniture godown at Fourth Mile around 4 pm, a mobile shop in Mananthavady and fruits shop around 4. 45 pm.
After reaching home on April 29, around 5. 15 am, he was taken to the hospital on an ambulance around 11 am. He returned home in the ambulance around 2.30 pm. He was admitted to the hospital around 4.30 pm on May 2.
He was placed in home quarantine from April 26. His sample was collected on April 27. Six people including his family members and a co-passenger are listed as those who had primary contact with the patient. Among them, the co-passenger tested negative for COVID-19.
“There is no need to panic as the patient did not have close contact with more people,” said district collector Dr Adeela Abudllah.
Earlier, three people were tested positive for COVID-19 in the district. All three recovered and were discharged from the hospital.
