Thrissur: A Chalakudy native COVID-19 patient, who was under treatment at the Thrissur Medical College, died here on Monday taking the death toll due to the pandemic in state to 16.

The deceased was identified as Kombara native Dinny Chacko (42), son of Chacko.

Dinny, a diabetic patient, had returned from Maldives on May 12. He was confirmed with COVOID-19 on May 16 and was under treatment at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital. He was shifted to a ventilator, two weeks back after his condition worsened.

His wife, son and mother had also been confirmed with COVID-19. Diny's wife and son had recovered from the virus infection. However, his mother is still under treatment.
