Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that directions have been issued to buy one oxygen cylinder in each police station in the state. These oxygen cylinders can be used by the officers and public in case of emergencies, the CM added.
Addressing a press meet after a COVID-19 review meeting, the CM said that 5,386 cases of people not using masks and 14 incidents of quarantine violation were reported on Saturday.
“There are reports of hypermarkets in cities ignoring restrictions and warnings issued by the government and police. Such irresponsible acts are leading to the number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Owners of such establishments are responsible for ensuring that their employees and customers are following the coronavirus protocol,” the CM said.
Police have been directed to take stringent action against establishments violating COVID-19 protocol under the Epidemic Diseases Act, he added.
