Thiruvananthapuram: Amid the growing concerns of the new variant of COVID-19, the health department has urged people to stay alert and take precautionary measures against the virus.
All should wear masks properly and should get vaccinated. Genome sequencing will be carried out to identify new variants, stated the health department.

Health Minister Veena George has directed to strengthen surveillance in all the districts.

Action will be taken to monitor those coming from outside Kerala. If these people have any symptoms, then they should seek treatment immediately.

It is assumed that the state has been witnessing a drop in cases due to the low number of tests.

The health department is attempting to prevent the chances of a future lockdown.

However, the government will not resort to stringent regulations.

“As the festive seasons are approaching, people should take personal precautions,” informed the minister.
