COVID-19: No crowding, spitting at local govt offices
Thiruvananthapuram: The local self-government has introduced a code of conduct which should be followed in all panchayat, municipal and corporation offices. The action to bring in a code of conduct was taken after observing the increase in the number of visitors to the local government bodies following relaxations in the lockdown. As per this, people are restricted from crowding and spitting near local self-government offices.
The guidelines in the code of conduct also directs everyone to cover the face while sneezing and coughing.
The local self-government department ordered that the public should use online services to avoid visiting the office and make enquiries over the phone.
People who arrive at the offices must record their name, address, visiting time, phone number and the officials with whom they took an appointment etc on a register at the office.
Only five people are allowed to enter the office at a time. Children below 10 years and adults above 60 years are restricted from visiting the offices.
A visitors help desk is functioning in each local self-government office to assist the people who arrive for emergency purpose. No one is allowed to enter the office without wearing a mask. Guidelines as per the break the chain campaign are also strictly followed at each office.
The department ordered the offices to provide arrangements to wash hands with sanitizer or soap and water.
Canteens and snack shops close to the offices must follow the COVID-19 protocol.
