COVID-19: More clusters likely to be formed; 4 districts alerted
Thiruvananthapuram: As COVID-19 is spreading through local transmission in the state, four districts have been alerted to maintain caution. Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur districts were asked to stay alert. The health department said that more clusters are likely to be formed in these places.
Chances are very high to form more clusters in Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur districts. Special attention is required in these districts, the health department warned in a report regarding clusters. This report was prepared based on the clusters formed already in various districts.
The major recommendation in the report is to intensify the resistance activities in coastal areas, densely populated places, ITBP camp in Alappuzha, CISF and DSC camps in Kannur. The health department assume that more clusters can be formed due to spreading of COVID though contact.
There are 51 clusters in the state so far. This includes 11 clusters in Kollam, 6 in Thiruvananthapuram, 4 each in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts. Poonthura in Thiruvananthapuram and Ponnani in Malappuram are the largest clusters. Also 15 clusters could be brought under control, the report stated.
