COVID-19: MK Muneer appreciates government for rectifying mistake

Munner wanted the Chief Minister to let go of his stubbornness that cases reported after the daily press conference will only be announced in the next day’s press conference.

Kozhikode: Deputy Leader of Opposition MK Muneer has appreciated the state government for rectifying its mistakes by allowing district Collectors to announce COVID-19 positive cases.

The former minister also added that he was abused for merely pointing out this mistake and that it was his responsibility to point out mistakes to the government. The MLA took to social media to share his thoughts.

MK Munner was subjected to a lot of criticism for making remarks after a four-month-old baby died in Malappuram due to COVID-19. Muneer said that the death was caused as positive cases are announced only during the Chief Minister’s daily press conference.

Munner wanted the Chief Minister to let go of his stubbornness that cases reported after the daily press conference will only be announced in the next day’s press conference. The MLA’s response came after the Idukki district collector announced three persons being testing positive for COVID-19.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told the other day that relatives and family of the patients are informed immediately after the result comes out. But the doctors who treated the baby came to know of the result only after 24 hours.
