COVID-19: Lockdown to continue in Thiruvananthapuram with relaxations
Thiruvananthapuram: Lockdown will continue in the state capital with relaxations. One-third staff will be allowed in central and state government offices. Hotels will be allowed to open but only parcels will be permitted.
District Collector Navjot Khosa released guidelines to continue the lockdown with relaxations. Ony 25 percent staff will be allowed in private firms. Government and private employees have been allowed to work from home.
Hotels and restaurants will be allowed to open only Take Away counters. Customers will not be allowed to dine. Home delivery will be allowed in all areas except containment zones.
Public transport will be allowed with 50 percent passengers. Autorickshaw and taxi services are allowed.
Shops selling essential items can remain open from 7 am to 7 pm. These shops must cater to only senior citizens between 4 pm and 6 pm. Supermarkets, malls, saloons, spas and beauty parlours must remain closed.
Agriculture and related activities are allowed. All agricultural and construction activities are allowed in areas which are not containment zones.
There will be restrictions on road transport in and out of the Thiruvananthapuram corporation. 20 wards inside the corporation will remain as critical containment zones while 10 other wards will remain as containment zones.
Educational institutions inside the Thiruvananthapuram corporation must not conduct public examinations until further announcement.
Movie theatres, gymnasiums, swimming pools, parks, auditoriums and bars must remain closed. Any activity that could result in crowd gathering will not be allowed.
These relaxations will not be applicable in critical containment zones. All containment zones must maintain status quo until further announcement, the Collector informed.
