COVID-19: KSRTC to lend buses to medical colleges amid lockdown
Kozhikode: As part of coronavirus preventive measures, KSRTC will lend buses to medical colleges, if required for their functioning, said Transport Minister A K Saseendran.
Already buses have been provided to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram medical colleges and for various operations in Kasaragod district. Many other districts have demanded buses. It will be granted as and when Collectors' requests are obtained, he added.
As public transportation completely seized, there shouldn’t be a situation where employees can’t arrive for duty. Buses will be allowed for this purpose and timings can be regulated according to shifts. However, no other passenger will be allowed on buses, minister further said.
Many people still haven’t understood the seriousness of the situation. Many are wandering on roads and hindering police duty. More restrictions are required to bring situation under control, Saseendran opined.
Measures have been taken to ensure the transportation of goods with no obstruction. A certificate regarding the fitness of the driver will be examined and passes will be provided. This would help in easing the transportation of goods from borders to Kerala, he further added.
