Covid-19: Kerala records 3,698 new cases, 75 deaths, 7,515 recoveries on Monday
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 3,698 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, informed the health department in a press release. Test postitivity rate (TPR) was recorded at 8.18 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Kozhikode - 724, Ernakulam - 622, Thiruvananthapuram - 465, Kollam - 348, Thrissur - 247, Kottayam - 228, Kannur - 200, Malappuram - 179, Idukki - 162, Alappuzha - 151, Wayanad - 119, Palakkad - 115, Pathanamthitta - 110, and Kasaragod - 28.
A total of 45,190 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised based on the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 46 wards of 39 local bodies.
Along with 75 fresh COVID deaths, the health department also reported 105 deaths that are newly certified as Covid deaths based on revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 37,675 in the state.
1,88,979 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,83,929 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 5,050 people are in hospitals. 333 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 54,091 active Covid cases reported, only 7.2 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
15 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 3,432people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 238 patients remains unidentified. 13 health workers also tested positive for Covid.
Meanwhile, 7,515 recoveries were also reported in the state. 50,04,786 people were recovered from the disease so far.
