COVID-19: Gynaecologist among 8 staff tested positive at Cherthala taluk hospital

A COVID-19 positive pregnant woman had come to the hospital seeking treatment on Friday. It is assumed that the health workers contracted the disease from her.

Alappuzha: Eight health workers including a gynaecologist at the Cherthala Taluk Hospital have been tested positive for COVID-19.

They had contact with a pregnant woman, who had tested positive for coronavirus earlier. The health workers include two staff nurses, a security guard and an ASHA worker who conducts thermal scanning. Steps are being taken to take the COVID-19 patients to a hospital.

In the backdrop of the health workers and a doctor being tested COVID-19 positive, the Cherthala municipality has demanded to shut down the hospital and move the OP section to another location.
