Thiruvananthapuram: The authorities on Saturday imposed strict restrictions in the Thiruvananthapuram district given the increase in Covid-19 cases. The District Collector issued an order banning public meetings and community gatherings in the district. Further, crowds are not allowed in malls and other shopping areas in the district.

Navjot Khosa IAS, the collector of Thiruavanathpuram, stated that meetings and gatherings of more than 50 people would not be allowed and that the organizers should postpone such meetings. Further, the number of people who can attend weddings and funerals is decreased to 50. City and rural district police authorities are directed to make sure the restrictions are followed.

Government bodies, semi-government bodies, public sector undertakings and co-operative societies are directed to conduct official events through online mode.

In commercial establishments, one person per 25 square feet of business premises is allowed at a time. Further, the concerned authorities are directed to inform the medical officers if clusters are formed in educational institutions.

Meanwhile, IB Satheesh MLA, who was a participant of the CPM Thiruvananthapuram district conference, was tested positive.
