Covid-19 ex gratia: Second phase of financial assistance sanctioned

Kochi: The government has approved the second phase of financial assistance to children who lost their parents due to Covid-19. A total amount of Rs 1.41 crore to be deposited as fixed deposit at Rs 3 lakh per child and financial assistance of Rs 7,64,000 at the rate of Rs 2,000 per month has been sanctioned. A total of Rs 1,48,64,000 is allotted for the second phase.

The child can withdraw the fixed deposit only after attaining the age of 18. Further, the monthly amount as assistance will be provided until the age of 18.

47 children from a total of 10 districts will be able to get the benefit. In the first phase of the scheme, 56 children from 12 districts were given fixed deposits and monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,07,36,000.
