COVID-19: CPM switches Public meeting of Thrissur district conference to online


The number of delegates to the district conference, which will be held from January 21 to 23 will be reduced in view of the third wave of COVID-19.

Thrissur: The CPM has decided to conduct the public meeting of the Thrissur district conference online in the wake of the surge in Covid-19 cases. The party announced that the public meeting will be held virtually to avoid crowding. The number of delegates to the conference has also been reduced. The district secretary MM Varghese clarified that only 75-80 people participated in the Thiruvatirakali held as part of the district conference. He asserted that Covid protocol was not violated during the event.

"The number of delegates to the district conference, which will be held from January 21 to 23 will be reduced in view of the third wave of COVID-19. The public meeting scheduled on January 23 will be held online. State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will inaugurate the conference online," informed the CPM district secretary.

After the Thiruvathirakkali controversy in Parassala, the CPM conducted a mega Thiruvathirakali in Thrissur too. Everyone had worn masks during the performance. The event was led by Wadakkancherry Block Panchayat Development Standing Committee Chairperson MK Sreeja.
