No respite in daily caseload as Kerala clocks 49,771 new cases on Wednesday

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 49,771 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity was recorded as 48.06 per cent.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-9,567, Thiruvananthapuram- 6,945, Thrissur-4,449, Kozhikode- 4,196, Kollam-4,177, Kottayam-3,922, Palakkad-2,683, Malappuram-2,517, Alappuzha-2,506, Kannur-2,333, Idukki-2,203, Pathanamthitta-2,039, Kasaragod-1,368 and Wayanad 866.

A total of 1,03,553 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

4,57,329 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,46,391 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 10,938 people are in hospitals. 1,346 people were taken to hospitals on Monday.

Among the 3,00,556 active Covid cases reported, only 3.6 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.

Along with 63 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 77 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 52,281 in the state.

Meanwhile, 34,439 recoveries were also reported in the state.

The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-9,582, Kollam-755, Pathanamthitta-536, Alappuzha-1,43, Kottayam - 2,364, Idukki-955, Ernakulam-4,768, Thrissur-3,600, Palakkad-1,539, Malappuram-1,681, Kozhikode-3,381, Wayanad-520, Kannur-1,814 and Kasaragod-1,901.

54,21,307 people were recovered from the disease so far.
