Thiruvananthapuram: COVID-19 claimed one life while 6 more were tested positive for the virus in Kerala on Saturday, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The deceased is a native of Chullikkal in Ernakulam district. It is the first COVID-19 death in the state, said the CM terming Saturday as a sad day for Kerala.
Among the 6 COVID-19 cases, 2 are from Thiruvananthapuram while one each were from Kollam, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts, the CM added.
With this, the number of people under treatment for COVID-19 rose to 165.
As many as 1,34,370 people are under observation. Among them 1,33,750 are under home quarantine while 620 have been admitted to various hospitals.
As many as 148 persons were admitted to hospitals with symptoms of coronavirus on Saturday.
