Kochi: The Court came down heavily on the Customs for not mentioning the high offices held by M Sivasankar earlier in the custodial application. After the hearing, court granted 5 days custody of Sivasankar to Customs.

“Why is it not mentioned about the offices he had held? Why hesitant to mention them and note only his father’s name?” court asked Customs.

The investigation officials should respond on it, the court said demanding Customs to mention the reason for seeking Sivasankar’s custody.

Interrogation was conducted many times. Why was the arrest made in the 11th hour? Court further asked.

To this Customs replied that Sivasankar’s arrest was made based on the statements of other accused in the case including Swapna Suresh.

Customs had not mentioned the high offices Sivasankar held in the past but named him as Madhavan Nair’s son, in the custody application. Customs demanded 10 days custody of Sivasankar. But court rejected this and granted 5 days custody.

Swapna Suresh and Sarith PS are already in Customs custody for 5 days. The probe agency is planning to interrogate the three together.

Customs, planning to submit the charge sheet at the earliest, had recorded Sivasankar’s arrest on Tuesday at jail. Sivasankar is named as the 23rd accused in the case.
