Kochi: The division bench of the high court here refused to stay the single bench order that approved the Union Government's ban on the telecast of MediaOne channel. The court heard the arguments and adjourned for delivering the verdict.

The Centre had banned the broadcast and they approached the division bench after the single bench of the high court rejected their petition. Senior advocate of Supreme Court, Dushyant Dave, appeared for Media One.

Dave questioned why the telecast was allowed till recently if national security was in danger. The lawyer also pointed out that security clearance is not required to renew the license.

The Centre claimed that the security clearance was denied by a committee of the Union Home Ministry based on serious intelligence reports against the channel. The Additional Solicitor General, appearing for the Central Government, informed the court that there are serious security problems with the channel.
