Karunagappally: Girl’s High School in Karunagappally ground witnessed a different kind of wedding the other day. A simple ceremony where the bride and groom entered wedlock by reading out the Preamble to the Constitution of India.
The arrangements for the wedding were made by the Taluk library council in Karunagappally. Raijin, a policeman at the KAP battalion in Adoor and Akhila, a dairy farm instructor at the Department of Dairy Development are the ones who got married. Raijin is the son of Karunagappally native E K Sunu and T Usha. Akhila is the daughter of Kottayam native Vijayan and Somini. Both families gave their nod for a simple wedding without the religious ceremonies and extravaganzas.
The Karunagappally sub-registrar KB Hareesh arrived at the stage set up for the wedding in the evening. Raijin and Akhila signed the wedding register in the presence of their parents. Taluk library council president P B Shivan read out the preamble. The crowd too recited along with the couple.
Poet Kureepuzha Sreekumar, MLAs CR Mahesh and Dr Sujith Vijayan Pillai, Municipal Chairman Kottayil Raju, Taluk Library Council Secretary V Vijayakumar, Block panchayat president Deepthi Raveendran, Thodiyoor panchayat president Bindu Ramachandran, Dr Vallikavu Mohandas, Santhosh Manavam, and Kerala Police association office-bearers spoke during the function.
