Scooter after the hit

Nemom: A scooter rider died after being hit by a speeding bike at Pappanamcode- Malayinkeezhu road. The deceased was identified as Thuravoor native Gladison (48). His wife sustained severe injuries in the accident.

The accident happened on Saturday at around 8 pm. Gladison and his wife Beena Rani were returning after attending a wedding party when a bike from the opposite direction hit the scooter. Neither the locals nor police had noticed Beena Rani initially as she got hurled into a drainage on the roadside. They could spot her only after noticing a movement inside the drainage while rescuing Gladison.

Though Gladison was immediately taken to the hospital, he succumbed to a severe head injury. Beena has been admitted to the Govt Medical College hospital here. The couple have two children- Abhijith and Abhishek.

The locals informed the police that the bike was approaching at a high speed when it hit the scooter. The bike rider Jibin also sustained injuries. Nemom police have received a complaint that Jibin’s bike had hit another scooter just before the accident at Pappanamcode- Malayinkeezhu road and the accused attacked the scooter rider when the latter questioned him.
