Sasthamkotta (Kollam): A couple was found dead at Munroe Island here on Tuesday night. The deceased have been identified as Purushothaman (75) and his wife Vilasini (65). Police suspect the husband has killed himself after hacking his wife to death. Police have registered a case for unnatural death and are investigating.

The incident, which took place on Monday night, came to the attention of locals and relatives late Tuesday night. Police officials stated that Purushothaman was mentally ill.

The couple lived alone in the house and had frequent quarrels with each other. Locals felt suspicion over the lack of activity in the house on Tuesday and informed relatives. Later, the relatives, locals and the police entered the house and found them dead.

Writing on the wall suggested that Purushothaman suicide after killing his wife. Further, it was also recorded that his properties and assets be handed over to a close relative.
