Country made bombs discovered in the police search operations.

Kannur: Police recovered eight country-made bombs from the Kannavam-Thodeekalam region in Kannur during a search operation. The bombs were found in a sack, hidden under a culvert. They were diffused later on.

Security surveillance was intensified in the district as part of the vice president’s visit on Monday. The bombs were recovered during the police search conducted as a part of it.

Vice president Jagdeep Dhankar is scheduled to reach Kannur airport at 1:05 PM. He will visit his teacher Rathna Nair at her residence in Champad, Panoor. The retired teacher had taught the vice president at Sainik School, Chittorgarh. After the visit, he will leave for Ezhimala Naval Academy where he will interact with the cadets. This is the first visit of any Vice-President to the Ezhimala Naval Academy.

Around 1,300 police personnel have been deployed as part of Dhankar's visit. Security has been beefed up in regions including Mattanur, Koothuparamba, Panoor, and Kathiroor.
