Kattakkada: A police officer was transferred over charges of insulting a man who arrived at the police station to file a complaint along with his daughter. The state police chief has issued an order to carry out an investigation into the incident and submit a report within 2 days. Thiruvananthapuram range DIG is in charge of the inquiry.

The action was taken against the police officer at Neyyar dam police station after a video of the incident circulated on social media.

The video featured the police officer behaving rudely with the complainant and his daughter.

Neyyar dam Pallivetta native Sudevan had filed a complaint with the police after his daughter went missing. Police carried out an investigation and found the girl. A few days after the incident, Sudevan and his daughter reached the police station with a complaint stating they received a threat from some people. When the duo reached the police station, the police officer, who is now transferred, ill-treated them.

The higher officials informed that a serious lapse occurred from the police over the incident. The video itself confirmed the misbehaviour of the policeman.

As the complaintant was accompanied by a girl, the issue turns more serious. The immediate action was taken against the police officer observing that he did not behave decently with the complainant.
