Ernakulam: A policeman here has turned crutches for a physically challenged voter who was struggling to exercise his franchise. The voter named Velayudhan, who lost a leg and paralysed left hand, was lucky to get the help of the policeman at the polling booth.
The cop lifted him in his arms to the polling booth and later helped him to get into the autorickshaw.
Velayudhan, a voter at Muriyamangalam ward in Thiruvaniyoor panchayat here arrived at the polling booth around 12 pm.
He had lost his left leg in an accident at a quarry years ago. His left hand was also paralysed in the accident. He had been walking with the help of crutches.
When he arrived at the polling booth in an Anganwadi, he struggled to walk with the crutches as the courtyard was tiled.
Joshy C Abraham, a policeman who was on election duty here, noticed Velayudhan and rushed to help him. Without wasting much time, the cop lifted the voter and carried him in his arms.
Velayudhan exercised his right to vote by sitting safely on the hands of the cop.
After voting, the policeman took Velayudhan outside the booth and helped him to get into the autorickshaw.
The policeman has turned a star after someone captured visuals and shared it on social media.

Responding on the incident, Joshy stated that he just did his duty.
