Contributions at Rs 450 cr; Govt receives Rs 164 cr
Thiruvananthapuram: The promises received by the chief minister’s disaster relief fund in the backdrop of the flood tragedy has reached Rs 450 crore. The government said that Rs 164 crore of this amount was credited to the account till Saturday.
Contributions started to be received to the disaster relief fund to help the flood victims since August 13. The remaining amount, including those offered by other state governments, will be credited in the coming days.
It has been decided to transfer the festival allowance of government employees to the relief fund. This will amount to Rs 450 crore already offered. The government has requested the employees to contribute two day’s salary to the fund.
If all government employees contributed their two day’s salary, it will amount to Rs 175 crore. However, when one day’s salary was requested from the government employees during Ockhi cyclone disaster, mere Rs 31 crore was received.
