Conspirators of Sri Lankan blasts visited Kerala: Reports
Kochi: It is learnt that some of the conspirators of Sri Lanka blasts that happened on Easter day had visited Kerala. The NIA has begun investigation in this regard.
It is suspected that Zahran Hashim, a conspirator behind the Sri Lankan blasts, had visited Kerala twice after 2016. To find out the evidences of his visit, NIA and Kerala police have begun investigation at home stays at Fort Kochi, Kovalam and Varkala.
NIA also suspects the link of a Chandanathoppu native in Kollam to the blasts. The investigation team interrogated a friend of this alleged man who has been living in Mattannur for a long time.
The intelligence agency has found out with the help of cyber security experts that the three in custody of NIA used to watch the sermon videos of Zahran Hashim. More evidences are expected to be collected from them about Hashim’s visit to Kerala. However, none of the three has confessed they have seen Hashim directly. The three have acquaintances with those accused in IS recruitment in Kasaragod.
NIA has also found that some of them have links with Rashid Abdulla who is currently in Afghanistan. It was in 2016, the young men from Kerala were taken to Afghanistan under the leadership of Rashid Abdulla. Around this time, 36 Sri Lankan men also went to Afghanistan to join IS, reports said.
