Kochi: In a major setback for Dileep, the Kerala high court on Saturday directed the actor to produce his mobile phone before the court in connection with the conspiracy case. The court directed that phones be produced before the Registrar General of the High Court before 10 am on Monday.
Meanwhile, the court pointed out that an actor refusing to provide evidence can only be viewed as part of a conspiracy. Further, the court dismissed the arguments tabled by the actor and stated that it was not ideal to sent the phones for inspection on his own.
Earlier, Dileep had told the court that he had sent his phones to a lab in Hyderabad for forensic examination. However, the court questioned the right held by the actor to send phones for such an examination. The court also viewed that only centrally recognized agencies are entitled to do so and the result of his examination was not valid under the Evidence Act.
Meanwhile, the actor claimed that the police and the media are trying to tarnish his image. The defendant also asked the court to show mercy on the case. But the court replied that this case does not merit mercy.
Dileep also stated before the court that he does not trust the forensic lab in Thiruvananthapuram since it is under the control of the police. He added that the probe team was not considering his privacy on the matter.
The prosecution told the court that Dileep is not cooperating with the investigation and has conspired to murder the investigating officers in 2019.
