Kochi: Reports have emerged that Crime Branch will likely turn the co-accused Sai Sankar (a cyber expert) to an approver, in the case against actor Dileep and others for conspiring to threaten and kill the officials probing the 2017 actress sexual assault case.

Notably, Sankar is the seventh accused in the case. He was booked for 'destroying the evidence' in actor Dileep's phone in connection to the conspiracy case. Sai Sankar had 'confessed' to the investigating officers that Dileep's lawyers cheated him and asked him to destroy the evidence in the phones. According to reports on Sankar’s statement, he destroyed the Whatsapp chats and messages from 12 phone numbers. Since the reports were out, there were speculations that Sankar would become an approver in the case.

Later, Crime Branch decided to produce him before the court. He gave confidential statement to the magistrate.

It is learnt that, Sankar revealed crucial matters pertaining to the case and the Crime Branch will likely turn Sankar into an approver as it will possibly give more teeth to the prosecution.
