Kozhikode: The Congress is planning to take up protests in connection with the state’s buffer zone issue and launch strikes along with farmers’ associations. Reports said that the Congress will conduct a convention announcing the strikes on Tuesday in Koorachundu.

The convention will be inaugurated by former KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala.

Currently, there is ambiguity and concern over the buffer zone survey report of the Malabar Wildlife Sanctuary. The farmers have demanded a ground report in this regard.

As per the satellite survey report, buffer zones are likely to affect eight panchayats in the area. However, there is no clarity about which part of the panchayat will come under the zone.

Reportedly, the areas around Chakkittapara and Koorachundu will be the most adversely affected ones.

According to the farmers, the state government cannot move ahead with the survey report alone. The government should clarify details about the inhabited areas, shops and institutions that may come under the demarcated zones.
