Thiruvananthapuram: Drawing inspiration from the farmers protest in New Delhi, the Congress is gearing up to launch an agitation against the K-Rail project in the state. The plan is to conduct seminars and 1000 public meetings by involving experts like metroman E Sreedharan and other eminent environmental activists. KPCC President K Sudhakaran said the plan was formulated in the KPCC executive committee held on Friday.
He also clarified that Congress does not object to the land survey conducted as part of the study. However, we are against the laying of stone for land acquisition when the DPR is incomplete, he added.
Congress will conduct a statewide house to house campaign, and a pamphlet on the project will be distributed. The event will be attended by leaders as well. The government has not been able to convince CPI or even pro-government organizations like Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) about the project.
