Kozhikode: Muslim League leader Dr M K Muneer said that the Congress should conduct a self-evaluation regarding the poll debacle. Just as the Muslim League undergoes a self-evaluation, the Congress also should evaluate themselves to see if they committed any mistakes. It is essential for the existence of Congress and the UDF alike, he added.
Pinarayi Vijayan tried to create a divide in the election. He encouraged the organisations like SDPI. An undercurrent similar to that in Nemom had taken place amd also in many places in the state. Considering the failure of other parties, Muslim League managed to survive without much loss, Muneer alleged.
I did not leave Kozhikode South seat on my choice. When the party asked me to contest from Koduvally, I agreed. Kozhikode South was a stronghold and we will see what resulted in the defeat, he stated.
When asked if the candidature of a woman candidate resulted in the defeat, Muneer reacted that it need not be analysed that way. When a huge LDF wave occurred, I could survive it in Kozhikode district which is a great thing in my view, he added.
