Kannur: Congress has once again announced a fundraising campaign as part of the anniversary of the formation of the party.

In last year's campaign, a controversy erupted over a lack of transparency. It was reported that not even the state president had information regarding the amount collected. It was also alleged that the money had not been credited to the party account during that time.

This year’s Rs 138 challenge to mark the 138th birthday of INC will continue till March 26. One booth has to collect money from at least 50 individuals. There is no upper-limit to the donation from one individual.

Delay in issuing receipts, non-cooperation of members due to the fight over re-organisation were the major roadblocks last year in hitting the target of Rs 50 cr.

Leaders had questioned why the details were not presented in the committees.
