Congress party had a time when fund used to flow from the high command during every election period. The party that rules the country and many states used to send fund from Delhi to the booth committees for campaign expenses. But everything has changed now. The party workers are directed to manage the expenses using the donation coupons printed by the KPCC.

KPCC has handed over the coupons to the booth committees. The leadership decided that the collection of donation from all over the state can be a public contact event to influence them.

KPCC provided Rs 50,000 each for the candidates contesting in district panchayat divisions. This was sent to the personal account of the candidate. All others are directed to adjust with the amount collected through coupons.

The local leaders also complained that the party is totally going on low budget when it comes to campaign. BJP who rules the Centre is spending huge amount for election campaign and the CPM also has no issues with fund as they are ruling the state currently, the Congress workers assume.

During the golden era of Congress, the amount for election campaign used to be sent in boxes. The missing of box in Kozhikode had led to clashes among the groups. The businessmen and industrialists had generously contributed for the party.

The high command had offered a jeep for every DCC during the Lok Sabha polls. But this time they have to raise the fund through coupons. The party workers are unhappy over the neglect when the party does not have power.
