Congress organises anti-CAA protest across Kerala; Minor clashes at Kanhangad
Kanhangad/Malappuram: The Congress in Kerala is organising protests in all district headquarters on Saturday as part of strengthening its campaign against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Clashes erupted at some of the places where protests took place.
When the protesters tried to remove barricades set up by police, it ended up in clashes in Kanhangad. The march was inaugurated by KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran. He condemned the ongoing violence across the country and the action of Karnataka police against media persons from Kerala.
In Malappuram, a mega protest march led by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala was blocked by the police in front of the collectorate. This led to minor clashes following which Ramesh Chennithala and other leaders staged a sit-in protest on the road.
‘Bharat Bachao’ protest held by hundreds of Congress workers in Kozhikode caused huge traffic disruption in Mananchira premises. Meanwhile, protests are continuing in front of the secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta under the leadership of DCC.
