Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leaders in the state are against Anil Antony, son of party veteran AK Antony, who defended a BBC documentary critical of PM Narendra Modi.

The documentary highlights Modi’s involvement in the 2002 Gujarat riots, which has been Congress’ claim since the episode happened in Gujarat. As a result, the party leaders cannot agree with Anil Antony’s stand that BBC take undermines India’s sovereignty. Apart from that Anil’s remarks on Congress and Rahul Gandhi has apparently irked the veterans.

However, the veterans are not able to unleash a scathing attack on Anil due to their loyalty towards Antony. Meanwhile, one of the Congress chieftains and Opposition leader VD Satheesan welcomed Anil’s decision to quit Congress. “If people have difference of opinion they can find new ways,” he pointed out.
