Congress leaders lash out at KPCC leadership during meet with AICC general secretary

VD Satheesan MLA pointed out that the lack of coordination within the party was the reason for the defeat in LSG polls.

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress state leadership was heavily criticised by state leaders during the meeting with AICC General Secretary Tariq Anwar.

Leaders accused the KPCC leadership of not preparing enough for the local body polls. The leadership failed in making arrangements for campaign equipment, did not hold discussions with social and community organisations and could not even identify the leakage of votes in certain constituencies, it was alleged.

The debacle in LSG polls was caused by overwhelming factionalism in the party. The public discourse regarding the alliance with Welfare Party was a huge set back, it was complained.

The general sentiment at the meeting was that there should be an organisational change to reverse this debacle.

VD Satheesan MLA pointed out that the lack of coordination within the party was the reason for the defeat in LSG polls. TN Prathapan MP called for leadership change in the party including the DCC presidents of 7 districts. KC Joseph MLA said that it is not practical to change the leadership as the Assembly election is just 3 months away.

Earlier Oommen Chandy had stated that there was no need for a leadership change in the party.

The decision will be made the High Command based on the report filed by AICC General Secretary.
