Congress leader dies of heart attack during Vattiyoorkavu bypoll campaign
Thiruvananthapuram: A Congress leader died of a heart attack while campaigning for the bypoll at Vattiyoorkavu here in the district.
The deceased was identified as Kavalloor Madhu (65) a native of Kavalloor near Vattiyoorkavu. Madhu was the DCC vice president and a member of AICC. While campaigning, Madhu complained of discomfort and soon collapsed. Other party workers rushed Madhu to the Sri Ramakrishna Mission hospital in Sasthamangalam where he died.
Senior congress leaders including A. K. Antony and V. M. Sudheeran came to the hospital and paid respects. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala expressed his condolences.
Madhu’s body will be kept at the KPCC office from 9 am on Monday for the public to pay respects. The funeral will be held at Santhi Kavadam in Thycaud at 10 am.
Following the demise of Madhu, Congress stopped its bypoll campaign in the constituency. The campaign will resume after the funeral.
